'Brand new boots and panties'
A re-recording of the original album byIAN DURY AND THE BLOCKHEADS Various Artists Brand New Boots and Panties - homepage 'Brand New Boots and Panties' is the released on 9 April 2001 through east central one records. Ian Dury was the dog's bollocks and 'New Boots And Panties' was the cat's pyjamas. 'Live At Lourdes' that album was originally going to be called, a Lazarus blast by King Crip [who'd been the singer with Kilburn & The High Roads - then Ian Dury & The Kilburns]. 'Durex' he called himself. He was a Flash Harry handsome bastard bathed in humility and popping the bubbles of pomposity, Mr. Love Pants. His lyrics as sharp as the creases in Duke Ellington's trousers, this Upminster Minister with Polio Folio, Royal College of Art to rock 'n' roll collage of Tart, silver razor-blade earring & eye make-up just so. 'New Boots And Panties' ….. good Lord, you could record this album again maybe a quarter of a century after it first came out in 1977, record it again with all manner of incredible guest artists backed by Ian's amazing band The Blockheads. Fuck, yeah. A celebration of a classic piece of work. And Ian, he'd be well chuffed. "Result!" he'd go, laughing, the Pearly King chuckling from the Pearly Gates. Yes, Ian. Result. You could call it 'Brand New Boots And Panties'. BP Fallon The Dept. Of Corrective Truth, Dublin and New York (February 2001)
